Theresa Francis (Director)

Theresa first became involved with Stringwise as a parent. She became a violin tutor on the courses and was then asked to become a Director, by Sheila, in 2004. A qualified teacher, with 37 years experience, Theresa combines her own music business with teaching in Primary, Secondary and Special Schools throughout London. She has a passion for teaching Dance and enjoys the physical aspects of music-making. Theresa launched the pre-instrumental course for 4-6-year-olds in 2013. On her travels she gathers new exciting tutors. Kate Green (Chantraine Dance) Calvin Cuminsky (a storyteller) Alan Withers (5 rhythms Dance) and has some new exciting additions in the pipeline……….

Theresa’s children (musicians) were all taught by Sheila and attended Stringwise – continuing now as tutors and trainees.

As well as playing the violin and dancing, Theresa is a trained outdoor instructor, enjoys canoeing, outdoor swimming and yoga.

My aim as Director and Tutor on Stringwise is to challenge children to discover and explore and to push boundaries, both with themselves and their instrument. I want children to really feel and experience music – and to come away from the course with a sense of excitement and joy wanting to play their instrument with renewed energy.

Sheila said to me once that on Stringwise we sing, play and sing again. I would just add that we dance, sing, play and sing again.
